Rollover accident snarls traffic on West Shore Bypass

WEST READING, Pa. - An accident involving a rolled-over vehicle slowed traffic on the West Shore Bypass/Route 422 in West Reading.

The crash was reported around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of the highway at the Penn Avenue/Penn Street interchange.

A woman driving an SUV experienced a medical issue. Her vehicle took out a pole before it came to rest on its side in a grassy area near the bridge, according to witnesses.

Multiple rescue crews were dispatched to the scene. They worked about 30 minutes to free the woman, who was trapped inside the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital. Police said her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
