Royals clinch playoff berth with win over Elmira

Royals punch ticket to playoffs with shutout of Elmira

READING, Pa. - The Reading Royals clinched a berth in the Kelly Cup playoffs Friday night with a 2-0 win over Elmira at the Sovereign Center.

Kirk MacDonald and Julien Cayer tallied the goals for Reading.

Riley Gill continued his great play at goaltender, stopping 34 shots and recording the shutout.

Reading holds a commanding 13 point lead over the Jackals for first place in the Atlantic Division. They are also tied with Cincinnati atop the Eastern Conference.

The Cyclones visit Reading on Saturday night in what will be a showdown for sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.
