Royals clipped by Wheeling in shootout

READING, Pa. - The Royals saw their two-game winning streak snapped Wednesday night in a 2-1 shootout loss to Wheeling at the Sovereign Center.

Trailing 1-0 with 30 seconds left in the third period, Reading's David Marshall scored the equalizer to send the game into overtime.

After neither team scored in OT, the contest went to a shootout where the Nailers prevailed, 3-2.

The Royals still lead the Eastern Conference by five points. They head on the road for the weekend, making stops in Wheeling and Toledo on Friday and Saturday respectively.
