Royals in North division following ECHL realignment

It's already been a busy offseason for the Reading Royals. The franchise has changed affiliations at the NHL and AHL levels. Their captain won't be returning next season. The team will also be playing in a new division following the ECHL's realignment.

Starting this coming season, the Royals will play in the league's Eastern Conference North division.

Joining Reading will be traditional rivals Elmira and Wheeling, along with old conference foes Cincinnati and Toledo.

The ECHL now has four divisions. The top four teams from each will make the Kelly Cup playoffs and play each other in the first two rounds.
