Royals edge K-Wings to inch closer to top seed

READING - In a back and forth game that had everything, the Reading Royals edged the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday night, 5-4, at Santander Arena to begin a big weekend series between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.

Yannick Tifu, Domenic Monardo and Greg Wolfe tallied first period goals for the Royals, who led after the opening period 3-2.

Ryan Cruthers and Marvin Degon added second period goals, with Degon's power-play blast proving to be the game-winner.

The conference-leading Royals will take a four point lead over the K-Wings into Saturday night's rematch at Santander Arena.
