Schuylkill River Trail bridge dedicated to engineer

READING, Pa. - A bridge connecting a popular trail in Berks County is being renamed for an engineer who helped bring the bridge to life.

The pedestrian bridge over Lancaster Avenue in southwest Reading will now be known as the "Powell Bridge" in honor of Dwight Powell.

Organizers said the vital link on the Thun Trail would not exist if not for Powell's efforts in 2004 and 2005.

Powell has engineered construction projects for 28 miles of the Schuylkill River Trail.
