SEPA Home & Garden Show underway at Santander Arena

READING, Pa. - With the cold and snow, it may not seem like it, but spring is almost here.

"You open up your patio. You have your furniture out, the flowers are blooming," said Karen Kellenberger, with Buddy Boy Winery & Vineyards.

This weekend, at the 14th annual Southeast Pennsylvania Home and Garden Show at the Santander Arena in Reading, it looks like spring has already arrived.

What pairs better with the patio, flower petals and water, than a glass of Niagara wine?

"That's made with a Niagara grape, and Niagara is that really grapey wine taste, almost like you're eating grapes off the vine," said Kellenberger.

But before you go venturing out in the weeks ahead, don't forget to take one last look around the house.

"I just was curious to know what was setting by my desk," said John Rush of Reading. "It's fun to watch an expert look for small details."

Rush took his table-side treasures to HGTV's Collector Inspector Harry Rinker to see how much his mother's watch and ink blotter were worth.

"He said this might be worth $10, the ink blotter, and this might be worth $50, $60," said Rush.

It's all about giving folks the sense of being outside and thinking spring, as they walk by various vendors at the show.

"People like to take the living outdoors," said landscape contractor Rob Boltz.

The current trends in outdoor living? According to Boltz, a little bit of everything.

"We tried to combine a bunch of different elements at the booth today," said Boltz. "A water feature. A built in grill, bistro table and a fire pit behind us."

The show continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $8.50 for anyone 17 and over. Anyone 16 and under can get in free. You can get a dollar off an adult ticket price if you take a canned good to be donated to Greater Berks Food Bank.
