Sheriff: 2 women robbed, beat man, 73, with his own cane

MOUNT PENN, Pa. - Authorities are asking for the public's help to find two women who allegedly attacked a 73-year-old man with his own cane.

Authorities are looking for Marisa Desantis and her alleged accomplice, whose name isn't being released.

The attack happened March 15 at the victim's home in the 1900 block of Perkiomen Avenue in Mount Penn.

"They took a phone from him. I believe they also took some alcohol from his home," said Capt. Matthew Mendenhall, Berks County sheriff's office.

Desantis knew the victim, authorities said, and she was demanding money to pay child support that she owed.

When Desantis said he didn't have the money, Desantis allegedly threatened to call members from the Bloods Gang to hurt the victim.

Frightened for his life, officials said the victim drove the two women to an ATM, then to a liquor store.

The woman also demanded the victim drive them to purchase crack cocaine, investigators said.

But this nightmare was far from over.

"The victim did not have any more money to give to them, so they assaulted him with a cane, choked him and beat him with the cane," said Mendenhall.

Before the women left, they knocked the victim to the floor and choked him until he passed out, according to court documents.

The women stole $1,000 from the 73-year-old victim, police said.
