Shopping spree: Reading firefighters help Santa fill sack

Help fill fire truck with toy donations on Friday

EXETER TWP., Pa. - Reading firefighters traded in their suits and gear for shopping carts to help Santa fill his sack with toys this Christmas Eve.

Firefighters from the Reading Fire Department converged Wednesday night on the Target in Exeter Township to buy gifts for their annual toy drive.

The toys will be loaded onto a fire truck during the firefighters' ninth annual toy drive breakfast at Trooper Thorn's from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday.

You're invited to show up with an unwrapped toy of your own. In exchange, you'll be treated to a free breakfast.

The restaurant and bar, located at 451 Morgantown Road, will also be offering several drink specials during the toy drive.

All the donated toys will then be turned over to the Salvation Army for children who may otherwise go without a present on Christmas.
