Skiers, workers brave extreme cold at Bear Creek in Berks

'A periodic break in the lodge goes a long way'

LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. - The weather outside may be frightful, but that hasn't scared away the skiers and snowboarders from the slopes in Berks County.

In fact, there was even a line to get onto the lift at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Longswamp Township, near Topton, on Thursday.

And while there were plenty of people who were dying to hit the slopes, we found quite a few who were just fine sitting in the lodge.

"A periodic break in the lodge goes a long way," said Ed Kupillas.

Experts said if you plan on going out, make sure you layer up and take breaks from the cold.
