Soldier overseas; family treated to free Christmas makeover

BLANDON, Pa. - One Berks County military family has received the perfect gift to put it in the Christmas spirit. An organization has decorated its entire home for free.

"I was like, 'Oh my gosh!' So, it was really exciting. My kids were home and they were very excited. We did not have any idea," said Jacquelyn Daczewitz.

Daczewitz was contacted by Pennsylvania Lawn and Landscape Christmas Decor and told she and her family were nominated to have their entire home decorated for the holidays. It was all thanks to their friends and family members who nominated them.

"I was in tears because of that many people thinking about us at Christmas. Where my kids were excited about the lights, I was excited about what we mean to other people," said Daczewitz.

Jacquelyn's husband Philip is in the Army. He was deployed to Kuwait for the second time in April. The family does not expect him home until February.

"It has been hard knowing he is not going to be here, but with everybody who is close to us giving us cheerful things, it makes it a lot better," said Brooke Daczewitz.

Now, Jacquelyn and her kids are looking forward to seeing their home decked out for the holidays.

"It was very exciting knowing that we we are going to have our house lit up," said Brady Daczewitz.

"The only thing I suggested was colored lights because the kids love colored lights, and so does my husband," said Jacquelyn.
