Souderton girls top Boyertown in District I opener

BOYERTOWN - The Souderton girls tallied a 50-42 victory over Boyertown on Monday night a first round game of the District I-AAAA tournament.

The Big Red outscored the Bears in the second and third quarters while holding them off in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Souderton's Allison Gallagher led all scorers with 17 points. Sarah Derstein added another 12 points for the Big Red.

Abby Kapp paced the lady Bears with 12 points, who struggled to finish around the rim all night.

Souderton advances to the next round where they will face top-seeded Mount St. Joseph's.
