State official: Brush fire on Mount Penn appears suspicious

READING, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry said last week's brush fire on Mount Penn in Reading appears suspicious in nature.

Officials said they've determined the general area where the fire started, but the exact cause is still being sought.

Approximately 10 acres of land between Oak and Spook lanes were charred by the wind-driven fire on Thursday.

Firefighters from the city and several suburban companies battled the flames and smoke on the ground for several hours while a plane dropped water from above.
