State Senator Judy Schwank donates childhood violin

READING, Pa. - State Senator Judy Schwank is helping pass on a love of music to the next generation.

Senator Schwank donated her childhood violin to Operation Replay, an instrument recycling program at the Reading Musical Foundation.

Tuesday night she gave the instrument to Kaylah Garcia, a fourth-grader at 13th and Union Elementary School in Reading.

Schwank says the violin was a gift from her father and she's happy to see it go to a good home.

"It was a real, real treat for me that have that instrument. and now to pass it along to Kaylah and know that she'll practice it and play it, it's exactly what should happen with that instrument," Schwank said.

"I like the music that I can play, it's a very good experience," Garcia said.

Kayla was picked to receive the violin because she practiced more than any other student at her school and she says she's going to keep working hard.
