Suspicious fire damages vacant home in Reading

READING, Pa. - Firefighters worked fast to knock down a suspicious fire in Reading.

A number of people in the 100 block of Peach Street called 911 around 2:30 p.m. Monday to report smoke coming from a vacant home.

Crews forced entry into the home and found a fire on the first floor.

The city fire marshal was summoned to the scene. At this point, he said the fire is suspicious, but an exact cause has not yet been determined, so the investigation continues.
