'The Lofts at Narrow' set to make splash in West Reading

Building to have upscale apartments, rooftop pool

WYOMISSING, Pa. - While much attention has been given to the $70-million redevelopment of the VF Outlet Center complex, developers of an ongoing project next door are preparing to make a splash of their own.

Apartments in "The Lofts at Narrow" on Reading Avenue in West Reading are now being leased ahead of a planned opening later this year.

Work on the former manufacturing building is still going on, with a restaurant, cafe, gym and warehousing space being planned for the first floor. The top three floors will feature 95 one- and two-bedroom apartments. It will all be topped off with "a brilliantly bright luxury-style" rooftop pool.

Monthly rent starts at $1,200 for a one-bedroom loft and $1,575 for a two-bedroom unit.

Metropolitan Management Group is promoting the building's proximity to shopping, dining, and entertainment, with its location being a block off Penn Avenue and adjacent to the VF site, which will be known as "The Knitting Mills" and feature a mix of office, restaurant, and retail space, including Berks County's newest Wawa.

As is the case with the VF development's new name, "The Lofts at Narrow" pays tribute to its past, having been home to Narrow Fabric Industries Corporation for more than a century.
