READING, Pa. - Reading police are searching for the thief who broke into an auto repair shop and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment from a city fire truck.

Investigators said the truck was being repaired at a service center on North Fifth Street when someone broke in over the weekend. They said the thief took saws, lights, and tools.

"We're estimating the value to be roughly between $5,000 and $10,000 worth of equipment that was stolen," said Chief William Stoudt Jr., Reading Fire Department.

The fire department said it is contacting recycling centers to see if any of the stolen items turn up, and police are checking out pawn shops.
