Thieves steal valuable equipment from railroad

ALBANY TWP., Pa. - Thieves have targeted a railroad in northern Berks County.

Someone broke into the Wanamaker, Kempton and Southern Railroad in Albany Township sometime between Jan. 10 and Jan. 19 and stole equipment, state police said.

That stolen equipment, company officials said, was valued at a few thousand dollars.

The WK&S Railroad typically offers scenic train rides on weekends between May and November.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
