Tractor trailer overturns on I-78 near Berks, Lehigh border

GREENWICH TWP., Pa. - An accident involving a tractor trailer slowed traffic on a stretch of Interstate 78 near the border between Berks and Lehigh counties.

The accident was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes of I-78 in Greenwich Township, Berks County, between the Kutztown/Krumsville and New Smithville interchanges.

Initial reports from the scene were that the tractor trailer was hauling wood pellets when it went off the highway and overturned in the woods, with the driver trapped inside.

The driver had to be freed from the cab. Officials have not provided any information about injuries.
