Trailers housing fireworks explode in Union Township

UNION TWP., Pa. - Two tractors trailers storing fireworks went up in flames in Berks County on Tuesday.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at International Fireworks, near Shed and Red Corner roads, in Union Township.

Explosions could be heard and smoke could be seen from a mile away.

The incident drew a big response from firefighters, who had to take extra precautions when approaching the fire.

A fire official told 69 News the fire spread about 50 yards into the woods near the tractor trailers, but it did not pose a threat to anyone living in the area.

No injuries were reported.

State and federal officials are investigating.
