Trial begins for father of man who killed sheriff's deputy

READING, Pa. - The trial will resume Wednesday for a man accused of giving guns to his son, a convicted felon who shot and killed a Berks County sheriff's deputy.

Authorities said Maurice Connor and two others gave guns, including an AK-47, to Matthew Connor.

Matthew Connor then used at least one of those guns to shoot and kill Kyle Pagerly in Albany Township two years ago, authorities said.

Matthew Connor was killed in the exchange of gunfire.

Jared Engleman's trial on similar charges will start after Connor's.

Sandra Keim has pleaded guilty to firearms charges and was sentenced to probation.
