Raiders, Bears advance at state tournament

BOYERTOWN - The Twin Valley and Boyertown legion baseball teams picked up wins in their state tournament openers on Tuesday at Bear Stadium.

Twin Valley topped Greater Pittston, 3-1, in 10 innings. Gabe Witmer drove in a pair of runs in the extra frame which proved to be the difference for the Raiders.

Boyertown followed that up with an 11-0 rout of Latrobe. The Bears out-hit their opponent 16-2.

Dan Woodley allowed just 1 hit over 7 innings while striking out 10 for Boyertown.

Twin Valley will play Spring Grove on Wednesday at 4:00. Boyertown once again has the night cap, this time against Downingtown.
