Twin Valley field hockey excited for state tournament

Twin Valley gearing up for state title run

ELVERSON - The Twin Valley field hockey team has experienced an up-and-down postseason so far. But the Raiders can finish on the ultimate high note with a PIAA AAA Field Hockey Championship.

The Raiders (23-2) captured their second straight BCIAA Championship with a 1-0 win over Oley Valley this season.

But the team didn't carry the momentum into the District III tournament. The Raiders were the 2nd-seed, but were upset by Warwick in the quarterfinals. That forced them to win a pair of play-in games just to make the state tournament.

The team says that the bonding it went through over that stretch of play-in games has actually made the team better. It's one of the main reasons why the team is heading into states with such high confidence.

Twin Valley will face Mifflin County, the top-seed out of Section 6, on Tuesday at State College high school at 6:00.

Oley Valley will take on Lewisburg at the AA level. That game will be at Exeter on Tuesday at 6:00.
