BERKS COUNTY - The Twin Valley and Wilson West Lawn field hockey teams picked up key road wins on Monday. Both the Raiders and Bulldogs padded their division leads with the victories.
In Hamburg, Karlie Heistand gave Hamburg (4-3, 9-5) the early lead, but Twin Valley (7-0, 13-0) erupted for three goals in less than four minutes in the first half en route to a 3-2 win.
The Raiders got a pair of goals from Ashley Hoffman and another from Natalie Wilkinson during the barrage.
The Hawks cut the deficit to one in the second half on a goal from Andrea Capitella, but the Raiders held on for the victory.
Hamburg drops to third place in Berks II. Twin Valley leads Berks Catholic by two games atop the division.
Earlier in the day at Laureldale, Wilson West Lawn edged Muhlenberg, 2-1, in overtime. The Bulldogs now lead the Muhls by two games atop Berks I.
Avery Marz put Wilson in the lead with a goal early in the second half. But Meredith Pfennig tallied the equalizer and sent the game into overtime.
In OT, Wilson's Margaret Lillis set up Mary Shea Kelly-Buckley for the winning goal less than two minutes into the extra period.
Wilson (7-0, 10-4) has won seven straight games. Muhlenberg (5-2, 10-5) has lost two of its last four.
