Man guilty of murder in stabbing death of 16-year-old boy

READING, Pa. - A man has been found guilty in the deadly stabbing of a 16-year-old boy.

A Berks County jury convicted Avery Valentin-Bair of third-degree murder and aggravated assault. He was found not guilty of first-degree murder.

Valentin-Bair had been on trial for the death of Christhian Torres, who was killed in the 1100 block of Locust Street in Reading in September 2016.

Valentin-Bair's trial started Monday. The jury received the case Friday afternoon and deliberated until about 8:15 p.m.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 6.

Police said Torres was killed as he and his friends were riding bikes while wearing Halloween masks and a fight broke out.

Two other people were stabbed and treated for minor injuries.
