Bowie snaps Reading's 3-game win streak

READING, Pa. - Reading tried to make a late comeback against the Bowie Baysox but ultimately fell short as they lost 5-3.  Mike Nesseth pitched his longest outing of the season but earned his third loss.  He allowed three runs over five innings of work.  

Bowie scored the first runs of the game with two outs in the top of the 2nd as K.D. Kang and Sharlon Scoop hit RBI singles off Mike Nesseth to give the Baysox a 2-0 lead.  The Fightin Phils cut the lead in half, 2-1 in the bottom of the 2nd off Baysox starter Jake Pettit as Anthony Hewitt hit a sacrifice fly to score Cameron Perkins.  Limerick native Christian Walker scored the third run of the game for the Baysox on a double-play by Ronald Bermudez to extend the lead to 3-1.

Bowie extended the lead to 5-1 in the top of the eighth inning as Christin Walker (Limerick, PA) hit a two-run home run off Fightin Phils reliever Ryan Demmin.  Brock Stassi brought the Fightin Phils within two runs, 5-3 as he hit a two-run home run off Baysox reliever Marcel Prado in the bottom of the 8th inning.  The home run by Stassi was his third of the season. 

Austin Wright pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.  Ryan O'Sullivan tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings as he recorded two strikeouts.  The Reading Fightin Phils are now 19-18 on the season.  Severino Gonzalez gets the start for the Fightin Phils on Saturday.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
