BERKS COUNTY, Pa. - The Wilson West Lawn girls (4-0, 10-1) defeated rival Governor Mifflin (2-2, 7-6) Friday night 47-41 in Shillington. The win gives the lady Bulldogs sole possession of first place in Berks I. Wilson has been lights out all season, with their only loss coming in the season opener to Abington Heights in early December.
Ivory Bailey paced the lady Bulldogs with 14 points. Jessie Wallace was also in double figures, scoring 13.
Governor Mifflin's Emily Gingrich led all scorers with 23 points. Megan McKay recorded 11, but it was not enough to lift the lady Mustangs.
Both teams return to action Saturday. Wilson hosts Coatesville while Governor Mifflin will welcome William Allen.
In Berks II action, the Conrad Weiser girls (4-0, 10-2) took care of Hamburg (2-2, 9-4) 57-33 in Hamburg Friday night. Much like Wilson, the victory gives the lady Scouts a little breathing room at the top of the division. Weiser outscored the lady Hawks 20-6 in the final quarter to seal the victory.
Hannah Racis continues to shine for Conrad Weiser. She dropped a game-high 22 points to lead the attack. Rachel Zerbe chipped in 12 points for the Scouts.
Hamburg did not have a scorer in double digits. Kassidy Lesher was the team's high scorer with 9 points. The loss hurts Hamburg in the division race. The lady Hawks also lost to Berks Catholic this week.
Conrad Weiser will play at Daniel Boone Saturday. Hamburg is off until Tuesday when they travel to Schuylkill Valley.
