Woman shot in Reading an innocent bystander, police say

READING, Pa. - A woman who was shot in south Reading on Tuesday was an innocent bystander, police said.

The woman was hit by gunfire that erupted during an argument between two other people in the 400 block of Printz Street shortly after 3 p.m., police said.

The victim was rushed to Reading Hospital with a bullet still lodged in her arm, police said. They expect her to be OK.

The first officers to respond initially requested backup because of a large number of people on the scene. Some were taken to police headquarters for questioning, but so far, no arrests have been made, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
