Work begins on Schuylkill Avenue bridge project in Reading

Work is underway to breathe new life into the 90-year-old Schuylkill Avenue bridge in northwest Reading.

Crews will repair the deck and replace beams and expansion joints.

Travel over the bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction until the work is done in November.

This is the first of three bridges in Reading getting repaired.

The Buttonwood Street Bridge and Penn Street Bridge are also scheduled for upgrades.
