Wyomissing eager to begin title defense

Wyomissing prepares for title defense

WYOMISSING - The Spartans went a perfect 16-0 last season en route to the first football state championship in Berks County history.

Wyomissing has no intention of giving up the title lightly.

The Spartans began Fall practice on Monday. Gone were many of the faces who were responsible for the team's state title run in 2012. But Wyomissing feels like it has enough weapons to be a viable threat once again.

They know the target is painted on their backs, but that's only given the team motivation as the start of the regular season approaches.

Wyo defeated Aliquippa in the PAA 2-A State Championship game at Hershey in December.
