Wyomissing reels in postseason honors

Anzalone, Wolfrum among 5 Spartans to be honored

WYOMISSING, Pa. - It was a season of perfection for the Wyomissing football team. The Spartans went 16-0 and captured the first football state championship in Berks County history.
A few members of the team earned postseason awards Wednesday, making the icing on the Wyo cake a little thicker.

Starting off with Notre Dame recruit Alex Anzalone. The running back/linebacker has earned PIAA 2-A Player of the Year honors.

Anzalone rushed for almost 1500 yards, scored more than 30 touchdowns and racked up over 100 tackles playing two-way football.

The man who pulled all the strings, head coach Bob Wolfrum, has been named 2-A Coach of the Year.

Wolfrum has 243 career victories but none as sweet as the state championship he won Saturday.

They weren't the only Spartans to earn state honors though.

Offensive lineman Ben Wertz, defensive lineman Jeriko Reyes and kicker Jonah Bowman made the all-state team.
