Wyomissing set to celebrate Independence Day old-fashioned way

Theme of celebration is 'America's moments in history'

WYOMISSING, Pa. - Patriotism will be alive and well in Berks County on Thursday as the borough of Wyomissing celebrates Independence Day in traditional fashion.

The theme of this year's celebration is "America's moments in history." Festivities will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Fire Cracker Fun Run, which is open to people of all ages.

That will be followed at 10 a.m. by a parade featuring various bands, floats, classic and antique cars, and boys and girls on their bicycles and scooters.

The parade will be followed by festivities at the Stone House, which will get underway at 11 a.m. Events will include concerts, a rubber duck race, a pie eating contest, free pony rides and various games for all ages.

The rain date for the celebration is Sat., July 6.
