Bethlehem shooting suspect Kenneth Ortega extradited from Florida, police say

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A man who was picked up in Florida in connection with a shooting in Bethlehem is now behind bars in Northampton County, officials said.

Kenneth Ortega, 22, 105 New World Court, Bethlehem, was arraigned at 12:15 p.m. Saturday on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, illegally possessing a firearm and possessing an instrument of crime and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $750,000 bail, according to court documents.

Ortega was arrested on Feb. 7 in Polk County, Fla., in connection with the Jan. 31 shooting of Tyrone Concepcion-Cosado, who was hit in the leg in the 1100 block of Fritz Drive, near the Marvine-Pembroke housing project, officials said.

Ortega also fired his 9mm semi-automatic handgun at Angel Pizzaro-Ramos, officials said.

Ortega is a member of the Maniac Latin Disciple street gang, officials said.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. March 4.
