davis: It's still early in training camp. But for those Eagles players competing for playing time, there's no room for slow starts.Former first round pick Brandon Graham finds himself in such a situation...with a linebacker spot up for grabs. >>> Graham has registered 8.5 sacks the last two seasons playing under three different coordinators...not great numbers for a first roder. The Eagles drafted another pass rusher with their top pick this year, Marcus Smith, which should create plenty of competition at camp.Chip Kelly thinks Graham is still a capable pass rusher. But he'd like to see some improvement in his coverage skills..making him a more versatile linebacker.>>>>>> Nine games in seven days. Reading, looking for a series split at first-place Portland...Jon Lester's uniform on the wall at Hadlock Field...he's been in trade talks heavilover the last few days...scouts on hand as well...they got a pitcher's dual today... thanks in part to plays like this...- derrick gibson bidding for extra bases...but reading's peter lavin ranges back to make a nice catch at the warning track...- for portland, brian johnson was terrific, 7 innings of one run, 1 hit ball...takes the league lead in e-r-a...tells you how tough he is... - but so is fightins starter adam loewen... worked around 5 walks... threw 6 scoreless innnings...left with a 1-0 lead.... - but in the bottom of the 8th, portland gets to the reading bullpen.heiker (hike-uhr) meneses (muh- ness-es) a two run double down the line in left, portland takes the lead.they wouldn't give it back...2-1 the final this afternoon...portland takes 3 of 4 from reading in the series.>>> On the flip side, The Phillies looked to win consecutive series since for the first time since late April today. Philadelphia wrapped up its series with the Mets at Citi Field......trade deadline, less than 24 hours away...Curtis
