Catasauqua tops Pen Argyl, wins first title in 32 years

Catasauqua wins first softball league title since 1981

The Catasauqua softball team beat Pen Argyl 6-0 Thursday night to claim its first Colonial League Championship since 1981.

Freshman Lexi Ayache pitched a four-hit complete game shutout for Catty, striking out three along the way.

Janae Matos and Erica Lebron each had two RBIs for the Rough Riders, while Shea O'Brien added two hits and an RBI.

Catasauqua, the No. 4 seed, finishes off a Colonial League Tournament in which it pounded out 20 runs in two games, and knocked off each of the top two seeds.

For Pen Argyl, it marked their third straight trip to the Colonial League title game.  The Knights lost in 2011 and won in 2012.
