Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett is continuing his offensive on pension reform legislation.

In an interview with 69 News the governor continued his push for legislation that would pare back public employee retirement benefits to curb rising pension costs.

Corbett has been at odds with fellow Republicans since the legislature approved a new state budget that did not include pension reform.

Corbett says without pension reform your local taxes will jump.

"This is an issue about property taxes and what property taxes are costing. In 163 school districts across Pennsylvania, they're increasing property taxes because of a need for pensions and the payment of pension," Corbett said.

Democratic leaders say the pressure on local property taxes comes from Corbett cutting funding to school districts.

Corbett told 69 News that that's false and that the state is providing more money to districts than ever before.
