Criminal charges lead to officer's dismissal from force

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. - A police officer is now off the force because of criminal charges pending against him, officials said.

The Muhlenberg Township Commissioners voted unanimously Monday night to terminate Thenard Anthony Caraballo.

Caraballo had been on paid suspension from the police department pending the outcome of an investigation into his alleged criminal conduct.

Caraballo stands accused of putting a gun in his estranged wife's mouth and threatening to kill her in June of last year while the couple's young daughter was nearby.

Police said he also harassed his estranged wife through a series of phone calls and text messages over the course of several months.

The criminal charges against Caraballo are still pending.
