EASTON, Pa. -

A former Northampton County sheriff's deputy linked to the leak of a confidential firearms application has applied to a rehabilitation program for first-time offenders.

Investigators said Darin Steward leaked the contents of a firearms permit application to West Easton council President Kelly Gross.

That application came from Gross's political rival, Tricia Mezzacappa.

If Steward is accepted into the program, known as ARD, he could have all charges expunged from his record.
