The Diocese of Greensburg confirmed it received a subpoena as part of a grand jury investigation into clergy sexual abuse.
69 News received a statement from the Diocese of Greenburg Saturday stating, "The Diocese of Greensburg has received a subpoena from the statewide investigative grand jury. The diocese is cooperating, and will continue to cooperate, with law enforcement officials in this matter."
The statement said the Diocese "takes the protection of all children and young people seriously. Names and facts of any allegation of misconduct will continue to be reported immediately to the proper civil authorities."
On Friday, the Diocese of Erie also confirmed with 69 News that it received a subpoena.
In a statement it said, "The Most Rev. Lawrence T. Persico, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Erie, was subpoenaed on Sept. 1, 2016 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Statewide Investigating Grand Jury to provide information related to past and present allegations of sexual abuse of children in the diocese. Our understanding is that several bishops across the commonwealth were subpoenaed at the same time."
This week the Diocese of Harrisburg also confirmed it is cooperating with the investigation.
