Driver dies days after crash on I-78 in Salisbury

Douglas McGowan's pickup truck was rear-ended on Summit Lawn ramp

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. - A man has died days after being injured in a crash on Interstate 78 in Lehigh County.

The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Saturday on I-78 East at the Summit Lawn exit in Salisbury Township.

Douglas McGowan was heading up the ramp in his pickup truck when traffic slowed ahead of him, state police said.

The SUV behind him, driven by Michael Weiczorek, 50, of Nazareth, Northampton County, hit McGowan's vehicle, police said.

McGowan, 63, of Enola, Pa., was not wearing a seat belt, and when his pickup truck was hit, it rolled over, said police, adding that he was ejected from the pickup.

McGowan died Wednesday of the injuries he suffered in the crash, officials said.
