East Stroudsburg man killed in accident on I-80 West

KNOWLTON TWP., Pa. - An un-belted driver was killed when his SUV went out of control in western New Jersey early Tuesday.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. on Interstate 80 West at mile marker 8.9 in Knowlton Twp., Warren Co.

Hector Garcia, 57, of East Stroudsburg, Monroe Co., lost control of his vehicle, which ran off the road and then re-entered the road, overturned and landed upright.

During this sequence of events, an unrestrained passenger in the back seat -- 32-year-old Stefanie Buissereth, also of East Stroudsburg -- was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Garcia died at the scene, and Buissereth was flown to Morristown Medical Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition.
