Former PSU administrators heading to trial

HARRISBURG, Pa. - They're charged in connection with the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal and soon it will be up to a jury to decide their fate.

Former Penn State President Graham Spainer, former Vice President Gary Schultz and former Athletic Director Tim Curley will all be heading to trial to face perjury and other charges.

Tuesday a judge deemed there is enough evidence that a jury can decide if the men tried to cover up the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.

Charges include perjury, obstruction of justice and child endangerment.

"The prosecution made it very clear this case is still about those young men who were victimized by Mr. Sandusky," said Tom Kline, a victim's attorney.

The prosecution said an astounding series of events dating back to 1998 led to now.

Specifically they pointed to e-mails between the three involving incidents in 1998 and 2001 where Sandusky is said to have had two inappropriate incidents with boys in a campus locker room shower.

The former administrators' defense teams argued there was little evidence that the three maliciously tried to cover up the crimes.

Caroline Roberto, council for Tim Curley, seemed more concerned about what Mike McQueary stated Monday -- words he had with late coach Joe Paterno -- in which McQueary said Paterno told him "Old Main" messed up.

"I was stunned  when I heard his testimony relating to Mr. Paterno," said Roberto.

When pressed on e-mails dating back to 2001 between Curley and Schultz discussing Sandusky and what Mike McQueary said he saw Roberto said the whole story is yet to be told.

"I think part of the emails we saw today need to be seen in the context of the entire trial," she said.

Also during Tuesday's hearing, an investigator for the Attorney General's office testified that at least three more victims were abused by Sandusky on school grounds after that 2001 incident.
