Palmer plans upgrades at Fairview Park

PALMER TWP., Pa.

Township officials are eying more than $80,000 in upgrades at Fairview Park, the site of a variety of sports, ranging from softball, legion baseball, basketball, tennis and the home of the annual Palmer Community Days.

The proposed plans, discussed Monday night by Palmer Township supervisors, include re-grading and resurfacing the Legion baseball field, new dugouts, upgrades to the bullpen and batter's cage, as well as new line striping on the basketball courts.

The basketball courts are also scheduled to receive new lighting upgrades.

The supervisors also plan on removing eight pine trees and one hardwood tree near the tennis courts and replace them with nine new trees in the fall.

Supervisors said pine tree needles cause maintenance problems on the courts.

The majority of the money for the projects will come from the township's recreation capital reserve fund.
