Governor Mifflin moving on without Gingrich

Mustangs move on without Gingrich

SHILLINGTON - For years, Emily Gingrich has been the top player for the Governor Mifflin girls soccer team. The Mustangs will need to find a new scorer this season amongst a younger crop of talent.

Gingrich scored more than 30 goals in her senior season last year, leading Mifflin to a District III championship and a state quarterfinal berth. That was the cap stone to an outstanding career at Governor Mifflin, and she'll look to continue her success at St. Joseph's this year.

But Gingrich, along with a few other key seniors, are gone, leaving Ed Deren the task of finding another big scorer. That might not happen right away, given the youth of the Mustangs this season.

One positive is that this year's team got the playoff experience last year, meaning the expectations are still high.
