Highway travel restrictions lifted

PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission have now lifted travel restrictions on the region's major highways.

Due to the winter storm impacting the region, speed limits were reduced Thursday to 45 mph on (all) interstates and several other routes in the region. All speeds are restored to their usual posted limits.

PennDOT is continuing to treat roadways in the area and will continue until roads are clear.

Turnpike officials lifted the 45 mph speed restriction for all drivers at 6 a.m. Friday, as well as bans on certain commercial and non-commercial trailers.
