Hoop Group Showcase returns to Parkland

Liberty earned a win, while Parkland and Freedom both fell in the annual Hoop Group Showcase at Parkland High School on Sunday.

The annual event featured five straight games including some of the top teams from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and attracted many college coaches, including St. Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli.

Liberty beat Council Rock North in the first game behind 20 points and 13 rebounds from K.J. Williams.

Parkland fell to The Patrick School (NJ), formerly St. Patrick's, by a 81-65 final.  Austin Beidleman had 25 points in the loss.

In the third game, St. Benedict's (NJ) beat Germantown Academy 85-58, while Abington Heights edged Gill St. Bernards (NJ) 54-53 in game four.

Freedom fell to Hudson Catholic (NJ) 53-46 in the nightcap.
