HS RUNDOWN: Catty pounds Pen Argyl

Catasauqua made a major statement on Saturday, pounding defending Colonial League Pen Argyl 48-21 on the road.

The Green Knights scored the first touchdown on a Mikey Racciato one-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

But the Rough Riders responded with 42 unanswered points, getting the mercy clock running in the third quarter.

Catasauqua remains the only undefeated team in the Colonial League at 7-0.  Pen Argyl drops to 5-2.


Allen earned its first win under head coach George Clay, beating Lehighton 26-14 at J. Birney Crum Stadium.

The game marked Allen's first win over an opponent over than Dieruff since the Canaries beat Nazareth 28-6 back in September of 2005.

Allen and Lehighton are each 1-6.


Pius X fell at home to Garden Spot 35-21 at Alumni Stadium.

The loss drops the Royals to 2-5 and halts their two-game winning streak.


Wyomissing raced out to a 45-0 halftime lead and cruised from there to a 52-6 home win over Fleetwood.

The win came in the 300th game coached by Bob Wolfrum. 

Wyomissing also inducted its first ever Hall of Fame class.

The Spartans improve to 7-0 with the win, while Fleetwood falls to 2-5.


Berks Catholic also stayed undefeated on the season, beating Hamburg 35-7 at home.

The Saints improve to 7-0 with the win, while the Hawks drop to 3-4.
