DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - A salary increase in the Bucks County court system set employees to make more than their supervisors.
The Bucks County commissioners corrected the change Monday by raising the supervisor rate during their salary board meeting.
The commissioners approved a readjustment rate to compete with the two percent salary increase across the board for non-union personnel.
Eight employees, including two administrative assistant secretaries, one Pennsylvania Child Support Program (PACSES) compliance manager, and five case information assistants, will be seeing a slight increase in their salary, which raises their pay rate above the salaries of those they supervise.
The salary increases come to a total of $14,116 but will only cost the county $4,800 due to reimbursement through the child support program.
The overall staff of domestic relations has decreased since last year, while the case load has increased.
"Our supervisor staff is shrinking and our line staff is very large… at domestic relations," Laura Lobianco, director at Bucks County court, told the commissioners.
Chairman Robert G. Loughery stated the board had discussed this issue several times during 2012 budget meetings. The motion passed with unanimous approval by the commissioners.
