IronPigs hold off Tides, snap losing streak

The IronPigs withstood a late Norfolk rally for an 8-7 win Friday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Pete Orr hit a three-run home run, Cody Asche hit a solo homer and had two RBIs, and Jermaine Mitchell had an RBI triple to help the 'Pigs built an 8-2 lead.

The Tides would roar back with five runs in the eighth inning to trim the lead to one.

But Mike Stutes pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save, and seal the win for the 'Pigs.

Ethan Martin (4-2, 5.23) allowed just two runs and struck out six over seven strong innings to get the win.

The IronPigs (17-24) will open an eight-game homestand at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday night at 6:35pm against Rochester.

That game can be seen live on WFMZ-TV.
