IronPigs split doubleheader in Syracuse

The IronPigs split a doubleheader with the Chiefs in Syracuse on Sunday.

The 'Pigs won the first game 5-2 before dropping the nightcap 3-2 in eight innings.

Ethan Martin (1-0, 4.82) struck out eight over five strong innings to earn his first triple-A win in game one.

Josh Fields had two hits and two RBIs, while Tommy Joseph added two RBIs of his own.

In game two, with the IronPigs down to their final out, Steven Lerud hit an RBI single in the 7th inning to tie the game at 2-2.

But Mike Stutes (0-1, 3.18) gave up a two-out, bases loaded single to Jimmy Van Ostrand in the 8th to give the Chiefs the win.

The IronPigs (4-5) will open a four-game series in Pawtucket on Monday at 6:15pm.
